The falls are really super easy because we're working on a sprung floor. We have springs mounted either to boards or directly to the concrete floor on 16 inch centers (I believe). On top of the springs are a layer of plywood, with a second layer of plywood setup so that the center of the 2nd sheet is the junction of the corners of 4 bottom sheets. These are topped with the 1.5" Swain Gold Medal tatami mats (just like the ones used at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta for Judo), a vapor barrier, and finally a nice canvas top. The floor dissipates shock so well that you can stand at one end of the floor, and feel someone just rise up on their toes and drop onto their heels at the other end of the floor about 80 feet away.
