The Convocation of Combat Arts

Best of the martial arts on the Web!

Apart from the actual martial arts themselves, what do you think is the best way to prepare for MMA competition. Is the traditional weights and running still up there as some of the best ways to get ready or has a new genertion of bodyweight circuit training become more effective. I have wrote an article about this and am wondering whats peoples opinions on it are.

Go bug this dude ...

http://willheffernan.blogspot.com/

He's an Olympic Strength and Conditioning coach who's just started training MMA ... he's got some interesting ideas on conditioning for MMA that go against a lot of the 'traditional' training methodologies ... but beware ... he's a sarcastic SOB with a penchant for taking the piss.

I've tried a few of his workouts and they certainly hurt ... but I'm just experimenting at the moment, and haven't done them systematically, so I can't really comment on how beneficial they are.

Not sure if that's any help to you ... but you might find something new over there

cheers
