The Convocation of Combat Arts

Best of the martial arts on the Web!

Hi everyone,

I started a discussion on my blog regarding Nigel Haskell, the employee at McDonald's who was shot after removing a man from the restaurant who had just hit a woman.

The original post is here: http://www.blackbeltmama.com/black_belt_mama/2009/02/yet-another-re...

SteveBJJ has also chimed in on his blog here: http://www.stevebjj.com/2009/02/non-bjj-mcdonalds-vs-nigel-haskett....

And the discussion continues here: http://www.blackbeltmama.com/black_belt_mama/2009/02/the-trouble-wi...

I'd love to have your thoughts on stepping in when a situation is potentially dangerous. Read the posts and tell me, what would you do?

What a story. It's refreshing to see someone who has enough guts to stand up for a complete stranger. It's also a demonstration on the law of unintended consequences. This story can serve as an exercise we can all learn from. Calling 911, de-escalation techniques and situational awareness might (or might not) have led to a different ending.

If you are a Facebook user, you can add this cause; this group was created as a McDonald's boycott until they do the right thing.
